Fear not...not fear less
We often talk about in our journey as humans the all-encompassing quest to live fearlessly. Jump into your life with all you have. This, while being a good thing isn’t necessarily the best.
I was contemplating this very thought one spring afternoon…looking out onto a landscape that was just beginning to turn green. I told God…”that’s it! I am going to start being fearless for you! Show me how Lord; show me they way to be and act and feel fearless.”
This was his reply to me. “I do not want you to fear less, I want you to fear not. That’s it…just fear not. I don’t want you to have even the hint of fear or less fear. Fear not, I am here. I have you. You are mine.”
Fear not, period. This is God’s command to us. He is in total control and is on the journey with us. We are not to walk in the realm of less fear; we are to walk in the realm of no fear.
What does this look like? To begin with it is a life that is fully surrendered to God. A life we are to give over and entrust to a worthy and faithful Lord. It means capturing every piercing thought, painful encounter, challenging circumstance and choosing to fear not. It tears down the walls that prevent our healing and our growth. It means standing before God and telling him; ”I’m yours…help me to not fear.”
Isaiah 41:10
“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
