What Is Your Song!?

I’ve never considered myself a morning person.  Our little, (kind of plain) friend, the lark, most certainly is.  He is one of the first birds to start the morning chorus that greets the new dawn.  Beautiful, sweet and simple is the song that compels the first rays of the sun to break through the darkness.  Joyful is his melody that begins the new day.

What an exceptional song from a plain ground dwelling and easily over looked bird.  I also am plain and ground dwelling, and easily over looked, but my song doesn’t have to be.  What exactly is my melody?  What do I want to sing?  I know that I don’t want to join the chorus of the negative, critical the hateful and the profane.  It is easy…too easy to go there.  Who wants to enjoy the pre-dawn, with a steaming cup of coffee, to a screeching and discordant symphony?  NOT ME!  Worse yet, please God don’t let me be a voice in that choir!

Whatever my song turns out to be I do know that I want to greet the new day with hope.  Hope that somehow in my small corner; as the world screeches around me, a soft, sweet beautiful song will float above the clanging throng.

Maybe my song only contains a few notes, but my prayer is that it would be a melody of encouragement, hope, compassion and especially love.  I am psyched by the idea that the atmosphere around me can break through the darkness just as the first rays of dawn break through and embrace the melody of a precious and plain little lark.

Let your heart sing…allow yourself to hope and watch how those around you tune in and start to join in your beautiful chorus.  We certainly have the power within us to make music.  Are we going to mimic the negative tune around us or are we going to allow God to create in us a new song?

Psalm 77:6  I will remember my song in the night; I will meditate with my heart, and my spirit ponders:

Psalm 33:3 Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
